Japanese Anti-Piracy Campaign So Popular It’s Getting Action Figures
The ‘NO MORE Movie Thief’ series of shorts have been showing before feature presentations since 2007. The ads feature the dastardly Camera Man illegally filming and downloading the latest movies only to be busted by the heroic Patrol Lamp Man. After seven years of delaying the start of the hottest films at local movie houses, the duo have achieved a good deal of public awareness and their kitschy designs have sparked everything from fan art to cosplay. Never one to miss the opportunity to make a couple bucks on a pop culture craze, Namco-Bandai has announced an upcoming figure/charm collection featuring the two.
The action charms will set you back 3024 JYP (about $29) per set so you can wear a statement of your opposition to the most dangerous crime of the modern era: Movie piracy.

Japanese Robonaut Kirobo Voyages to ISS on a Quest to Keep Humans Company
On Sunday, August 4th, the newest member of the International Space Station blasted off from Tanegashima Space Center.
As opposed to the usual bevy of scientists conducting experiments in microgravity, Kirobo’s mission is to chat up the squishier members of the crew. Measuring less than 14” tall, Kirobo is part of the Kibo Robot Project. The project’s ultimate goal is “To help solve the problems brought about by a society that has become more individualized and less communicative.” They explain that, “Nowadays, more and more people are living alone. It’s not just the elderly – with today's changing lifestyles, it’s people of all ages.” The Kibo Project aims to create a small, mechanical companion for such people.
In an act of indignation that will surely become a rallying call of mechanamen everywhere during the Robopocalyse of 2525, Kirobo traveled to the ISS via a cargo transfer vehicle and will remain packed away until the experiment’s start in November when fleshy astronaut Koichi Wakata arrives.

I have just finished watching a very
charming anime series called Natsume's Book of Friends (Natsume Yujin-cho).
. This show has a very warm feeling to it and a very likable cast of characters.

It starts out with a young boy named
Takashi Natsume who has a disconnected past from his immediate
family. He inherits a strange book that was owned by his
grandmother, Reiko Natsume. In this book, she had collected the
names of all the youkai (spirits) she had met in her life. Reiko had
forced them to give her their names so she could bind them in
servitude to her.
Takashi is not comfortable with this
and begins to give these names back to their owners. While doing
this, he comes upon Madara, one of the youkai that was bound to his
grandmother. Madara becomes a mentor and protector to Takashi.
Madara does not not hide the fact that he is really interested in
getting the Book of Friends for his own use. He is only protecting
Takashi from other youkai that might kill Takashi before Madara can.
Madara, who is called Nyanko Sensei by
Takashi, provides a humorous side kick in his disguise as a very
chubby lucky cat. He is constantly eating and loves to drink too
much sake.
He seems to be a very aloof cat only interested in his
own comfort and entertainment – but when real trouble arises, he
changes form into a much more formidable spirit and saves Takashi
many times.
Each episode covers another adventure
for Takashi and Nyanko Sensei as they meet more youkai and learn their stories. As the series progresses, we are shown
small pieces of Takashi's past life and how he has moved from home to
home without a real family. We also learn more about his grandmother. Both Takashi and his grandmother can see youkai. This makes them different from everyone else and they have both been outcasts as young children.
This show moves forward with the lives
of Takashi and his new youkai friends at a pace that allows us to see, in a very natural way, how Takashi grows and learns about friendship and family. We follow his discoveries about his own family and how he
is not as alone now as he has believed he is.
Natsume's Book of Friends tells a very

Contest Abuse Leads to Epic Kung Fu Beer Commercial With Jackie Chan and Shokotan | Weekend Watchlist
Kazuo Ishida dreams big. Not content to enter a single request, Ishida submitted a series of 39 dreams that outlined his vision of staring in a kung fu flick (Dream #1) where he faced off against his “buddy from university” (Dream #4) along side Hong Kong cinema legend Jackie Chan (Dream #2) and the Internet’s “New Queen of the Blogs” Shoko Nakagawa (Dream #3).
Kirin took up the challenge. The cast from Ishida’s dreams was assembled and flown out to Shanghai to produce this 6-minute, kung fu epic featuring everything you’d expect from the genre: Wirework stunts, fights using furniture and vegetables, a training montage, Chan’s traditional outtake reel during the end credits, and even heroic theme music to cheer on Kazuo Ishida in his darkest hour.
At the premiere of the featurette, Shokotan reportedly burst into tears and bowed to Ishida. As fate would have it, the production fulfilled not just this Ordinary Joe’s dream, but a dream of the Japanese idol as well. Shoko had always dreamed of working with Jackie Chan.

It begins with a high school girl, Sakura Sakurakouji, witnessing a mysterious event on her way home from school one day, She sees people being burned alive with a blue fire as a boy her age remains unharmed and stands over the people. She goes back to the scene with the police and there is no sign that this ever happened. The next day, the boy with the blue fire joins her high school class. Sakura becomes obsessed with finding out what is going on and follows the mysterious boy named Rei Ogami around to try to learn more about him. As the story develops, she learns that he is the sixth "Code: Breaker" and is a member of a team of assassins working for the government.
Rei Ogami has a very cold personality . As an assassin, he is very detached and has no qualms about killing. This contrasts Sakura, who is a warm, caring, young girl who feels that killing is wrong. Sakura wants to stop Ogami from killing people. She wants him to find another solution when stopping evil.
As the story unfolds in a roller coaster fashion, surprise and betrayal are always just around the corner. The story keeps moving and twisting as it goes. Each episode brings another new discovery that will make you look forward to the next episode to see what it will bring. Good and Evil are not so clear in this story. Sword Art Online brings Online Gaming to Life through Anime | AniMaiden'd
The story takes place in 2022 and begins with players logging into play an online gaming system that is still in beta. When the game finally goes live, the players find out that the creator of SAO has designed the game so that if any player's avatar dies while playing the game, the player will die in the real world and any player that attempts to log off and remove the visor and helmet they are wearing to play this game, will also die.
The story seems to be fairly straight forward when it starts but as it continues, the plot twists and turns quite nicely. Characters can be killed off during the game play and even important characters can die unexpectedly. The personalities are developed in interesting directions that keep viewers watching. The artwork is beautiful and works well with the animation to make a very beautiful world come to life.
In the unreal worlds of Sword Art Online, very real questions about life become the focus. As the main characters, Kirito and Asuna develop through the story, they explore life and what is truly important. They face some surprising challenges as they discover who the creator of SAO is and as the show progresses, new surprises are around every corner.
There are 24 episodes and they are scheduled to run through the end of the year. Be sure you don't miss this one on Crunchyroll.

Funimation Streaming Sengoku Basara Movie ‘The Last Party’ Before You Can Buy It
This third chapter of the Sengoku Basara series brings the boys back for one final war culminating in the legendary battle of Sekigahara, the beginning of the end to Japan’s feudal Warring States era.
I must admit to having been surprisingly taken with Sengoku Basara. It’s a testosterone fueled take on Japanese history where horses have handlebars and a samurai wielding six swords at once can destroy buildings with a single hit. The beautiful art, especially by television series standards, certainly doesn’t hurt. With its absurdly overpowered hero battles and real-world history twisted into heavy metal madness, Sengoku Basara feels more at home with the anime classics of the ‘90s than most of today’s features as it revels in its own cheesiness for the sake of over-the-top spectacle. While this third chapter may not make much sense to series newcomers, it is sure to satisfy those craving super powered manly men hitting each other with metal sticks.

This series originally aired on TV Tokyo in Japan from April 2008 to March 2009.
The Grim Reaper goes by the title Lord Death in this universe and runs a school called Death Weapon Meister Academy—DWMA for short—located in the fictional Death City in Nevada, United States. The students at this academy (and other characters in this word) are capable of using supernatural powers by channeling the wavelengths of their souls. There are two groups, humans who have the ability to turn into demon weapons and humans who can wield these weapons, called meisters.
The school is a training ground for the weapons and meisters to grow and strengthen their skills. It is also an organization to defend and protect the world from evil. This includes monsters, witches, and demon gods.
The show starts with focusing on Maka Albarn and her scythe partner Soul Eater Evans. Maka is a young and serious student whose parents were also meister and demon weapon partners. Her father, Spirit, was turned into a death scythe by Maka's mother for cheating on her. This leads to a very tense relationship between Maka and Spirit. Maka's goal is to turn Soul into a death scythe that is far greater than her father. However, Soul is much more laid back and easy going about life and school.
As the show progresses, you meet the other main protagonists in the story line. There are several other students at the school that have very intriguing pasts. Black Star and his demon weapon, Tsubaki Nakatsukasa, Death the Kid (Lord Death's son) and his twin pistols, The Thompson Twins (Liz and Patty) come from different and amazing backgrounds.
Soul Eater tells the stories of this universe through the adventures of the students at the Death Weapon Meister Academy. This is not a quiet show and the sound track is peppy and spirited. A very well paced plot line with fascinating characters, this show is definitely a treat for the Halloween season.

Adults and children alike will enjoy the show. The charm and humor make Folktales of Japan an enchanting experience. It has a very warm and endearing art style. The animation is very simplistic but works well for this show.
Folktales of Japan's first episode was aired on April 1st, 2012. The narration and all character voices are provided by veteran Japanese film actors Akira Emoto and Yoneko Matsukane. There are over 26 episodes available for viewing on with more on the way.
